Discovery
Legend has it that Imperial Green Tea was first discovered by Emperor Chen-Nung all the way back in 2737 BCE. It was a custom at the time to drink boiled water. On one blustery day, the leaves of what is now know as Imperial Green Tea fell into the emperor’s cup with a gust of wind. Don’t you just love happy accidents? I suppose in a way, discovering Resveralife was a happy accident for me. I stumbled upon their store while roaming around the mall in Mission Viejo. I had never heard of this company before but was intrigued by their unique store concept.
The salesperson there enthusiastically showed me around the store. It’s organized by the 5 senses, touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound. They had a wonderful selection of yoga mats, bath bombs, scented candles, and so on. It’s like an all-inclusive wellness center with even some skin care products thrown into the mix.
I was able to test many of their products in-store, but I decided to buy and take the Imperial Green Tea home. Here I share my review:
Packaging
- Tin Container
- Contains 20 tea bags
- Estimated shelf life: 24 months
You may not have considered it (I certainly hadn’t before writing this article), but tea has an expiration date. That’s right, tea has a shelf-life. That’s why it’s important to consider the packaging your tea comes in at the time of purchase. Especially if you’re not necessarily a regular tea-drinker or you’re holding onto it for a rainy day.
The Imperial Green Tea from Resveralife comes in small rectangular tin and holds 20 individually wrapped tea bags. The tin ensures continued freshness for the life of your tea, which a quick Google search tells me is about 24 months for bagged tea. The bags themselves are made of a nice, thin material that easily steeps in boiling water. I didn’t have any problems with my bags falling apart, which can happen with less quality brands.
Ingredients & Taste
- USDA Organic Green Tea
- Quality, non-bitter taste
Resveralife indicates that their Imperial Green Tea is USDA organic. This is a big plus in my book. No other ingredients are found in this tea. As far as taste goes, this tea has a pleasant green tea taste. There’s nothing particularly remarkable about this tea, but I will say that it is not bitter or too grassy, which I have found some other green teas to be.
Price
- $19.95 retail value
The retail price of the Imperial Green Tea is $19.95. That’s roughly a dollar per tea bag. It’s a bit expensive for the daily tea drinker but an acceptable price for a gift. I can imagine including one of these tins in the Christmas gift basket I make for my boss every year. What can I say? I’m a sucker for nice packaging.
Getting Social with Resveralife
I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly scrolling on social media. It’s hard not to get sucked into all the amazing content out there. Along with selling a great, quality tea, Resveralife also has a great social media presence. They may have a pretty small audience for now, but I have a feeling we’re going to see them grow tremendously. They have great tea-related advice and information on Facebook and Twitter and beautifully curated images on Instagram. If you haven’t seen their pages yet, I highly recommend giving them a follow!
Final Thoughts
Resveralife has a truly unique shopping experience. If you can find one in your area, you should stop by and have a look around. If tea isn’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of other goodies there that will be of interest. Especially for those of us seeking a holistic healthy lifestyle. This isn’t the cheapest tea around so if you’re looking for a bargain you’re better off at the grocery store. However, I do love the packaging of this tea and think it would make a really great gift for any tea-lover. The tea is organic and has a pleasant taste. I saw that they also make a hibiscus tea, so I will have to try that next. I’ll be curious to see if Resveralife introduces new flavors of tea to their stores in the future.
